The principle of equal pay for equal work was recognised in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.
Women were granted the rights to equal pay in 1969. According to the national bureau of statistics, full time adult total earnings rose by 4.4% for males and 5.2% for females, but still even now it is not unusual for men to be paid more then women doing the same job. If you are a women & doing the same job as a man then the law will protect you, but if you need to take time off or have more flexible hours to spend time with your children then the system does not equally protect you.
